Cindy Dunaway, Costume Designer for Alice Cooper, Featured on Glam to Punk: A Fashion Roundtable at VersoFest 2024

The third annual VersoFest 2024, held at The Westport Library in Connecticut, buzzed with energy. The audience was a mix of ages, but there was a palpable presence of seasoned rock fans, relishing the chance to hear behind-the-scenes stories of some of Alice Cooper's most memorable stage costumes.

So far, the festival had featured music legends Chuck D, Spin Doctors, Lemon Twigs, John Densmore (The Doors), and Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T. Rex) were just some of the musicians leading workshops and discussions.

Now, "Glam to Punk — A Fashion Round Table” was about to begin. Moderated by Christine Ohlman ("The Beehive Queen" of SNL), the panel featured Cindy Dunaway, legendary costume designer for Alice Cooper and pioneer of the glam rock aesthetic, Tish and Snooky of Manic Panic, and Cindy’s husband (yours truly).

Surrounded by original costumes worn on stage, screen, and celluloid, Cindy delved into stories from the trenches.  She talked about the inspiration for the looks, practical considerations for outfits designed for concerts, and when she played the Dancing Tooth on tour.

This event wasn't just another Q&A; it was a celebration of the fashion that defined an era. For those who couldn't make it or wish to relive the experience, the roundtable is available on The Westport Library's YouTube channel.

Cindy's been busy in her sequin-filled workroom, so keep an eye out for more iconic creations.
